Proudly Supporting all Military Families with a Special Needs Dependent
Mindy has been married to her husband for fifteen years and has been an Army wife for 7 1/2 years. She and her family are currently stationed at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord, in Tacoma, WA.
Mindy’s favorite part of being a military spouse is having the chance to live in the beautiful area where she grew up and calls home. She also enjoys being able to support EFMP families.
If given the chance to go back in time, Mindy would tell herself “There are really rotten days, and it’s ok to take a moment to cry, but then you need to keep going forward. Being strong is good, but remembers its ok to be human and ask for help once in a while.”
Since Mindy’s daughter was born nine years ago, people have stepped forward to help her family out when needed. Her father taught her from a young age how to locate local resources and she uses this knowledge to find support and assistance, for not only her own family, but for others. “When I see these kids and families smile, that’s the best reward of all,” Mindy says.
The Military Special Needs Network honors and salutes Mindy Kerbs as the Military Spouse of the Day! We thank you for being such a wonderful military spouse and an amazing advocate for special needs!
