Proudly Supporting all Military Families with a Special Needs Dependent
Kelly Zeigler, a proud Navy wife, has been married to her husband for nine years. Her family is currently stationed in Jacksonville, Florida.
Kelly’s favorite part of being a military spouse is simply being married to her husband! She says, “I love every aspect of who he is – and the military is a large part of that. The military has allowed me to be a stay at home mom, it has provided my children th…e services they need, and it has given me the most amazing friends on earth.”
If she could go back in time and give herself one piece of advice, Kelly quotes Ecclesiastes 3:11 from the Bible, “He has made everything beautiful in its time…” She says that it is not for us to understand the “why’s”: why we end up here, why we move there, why send my spouse here. It is our job to accept it, learn from it, and better our own lives as a result.
Kelly is a phenomenal advocate for children with disabilities. She knows how challenging this life can be. If someone is there to help, listen, or say “Hey, I know what you mean – let me tell you what I did to help,” it can be less daunting. Kelly is so grateful for the many people that have helped her on her own journey, and feels that it is her duty to repay it by helping others. Kelly says, “Anyone can be an advocate. Just stand up for what you know is right. Wake up with an attitude of “What can I do today?” other than, “What do I have to do today?” I was blessed with two girls with autism. I will make the best of it.”
Kelly is the Founder of Puzzle Piece Princess, a wonderful website and blog, and is working towards providing girls and women with Autism and their families with services, products, and assistance that will better their lives. We urge you to visit her site at: www.puzzlepieceprincess.com for more information.
The Military Special Needs Network honors and salutes Kelly Zeigler as the Military Spouse of the Day! We thank you for being such a wonderful military spouse and an amazing advocate for special needs!
