Military Special Needs Network

Proudly Supporting all Military Families with a Special Needs Dependent

Geek Club Books Giveaway!

We’ve joined the club – the Geek Club, that is!

Geek Club books is dedicated to helping children with differences discover “how awesome [they] are.” More than a website, Geek Club is an experience. Founded by the mother of a son with Asperger’s, Geek Club Books provides resources to celebrate the differences in our children, and ourselves. Storybook apps with a very special super hero, parent pages for support, free Dorktale audio story downloads, self-affirmation, crafty goodness and a peek into the work behind the scenes in app development  – this site has a little something for everyone.

And, now, there is a special eBook of autism resources, called Project Heart Touch. Project Heart Touch “is a compilation of several heartwarming Facebook pages–profiles submitted directly by their community leaders. Here, you will find passionate and compassionate communities who will lift you up and carry you through your autism and special needs journeys.”

I am so very proud to announce that Military Special Needs Network is listed among the many wonderful organizations included in this free eBook. I remember when our sons were diagnosed. I remember leaving the hospital campus thinking, “Now what?” They gave us a label, a reason, and a list of websites and books. But I had no clue. I had no idea what I was supposed to do next. He has an autism diagnosis, I thought. Shouldn’t I tell someone about this? Do I call his pediatrician? Who helps kids with autism? Who is going to help meMilitary Special Needs Network is here to help. And so is Geek Club Books, and the other wonderful resources listed in this eBook.

To help celebrate the launch of Project Heart Touch, Geek Club Books is offering
MSNN members the opportunity to grab some Geek Swag. To be entered in the randomized drawing to win the Geek Swag, simply leave a comment below. (Swag includes one tee/you pick the size, one super cool, superhero bracelet, and comes in its own superhero bag – JMan character on one side and Geek Club Books logo on the other side.)

Hi Troy – I need to hear back from you by close of business tomorrow, please. If not, I will assume you are no longer interested in claiming your goodies and pick a new winner.

      Thanks so much –

Sometimes it seems like SN families are the forgotten miltary families. Most of the time we have to fight harder than others for medical care, acceptance (yes my family is one of those who are constantly stared at when shopping at the commissary,) etc. Thanks for everything you do!

Hey Trina. We’re doing our very best to reach as many special needs military families as we can. We know exactly what you mean – and it stinks. But if we can boost each other and inspire each other online, we believe it will go a long way towards building that “tribe” we all need.
