Proudly Supporting all Military Families with a Special Needs Dependent
Introducing Taryn Beers, a Navy spouse, currently stationed at MCLB Albany, Georgia. She has been married to her Sailor for almost six years. Taryn’s favorite things about being a military spouse are moving to new areas and meeting new people. She loves the military spouse community.
Taryn has a rare condition called Autoimmune Polyglandular Syndrome Type 1. There are several underlying conditions involved which include: Addison’s Disease, Hypoparathyoroidism, Premature Ovarian Failure, mucocutaneous candidiasis, migraines, anxiety and depression. Currently, it doesn’t affect her family, as she is stable. However, when she has a flare up and gets sick, she can end up in the hospital. Thankfully, her husband is very supportive and that helps!
Taryn’s advice for other special needs families is that: it will get easier. You will go through tough times, but with a loving and supportive family it will get easier. You also need to learn to be your own best advocate!
The Military Special Needs Network honors and salutes Taryn Beers as the Military Spouse of the Day! We thank you for being such a wonderful military spouse and an amazing advocate.
